Occupying one of the city’s most visible intersections The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Perth is an often over-looked architectural gem. The building has its origins in 1938 when a small group of Christian Scientists agreed to build a permanent church in which to hold their services. The architectural firm Ochiltree & Hargrave was commissioned to draw up plans for the new building and on the 2nd of February in 1939 the foundation stone was laid in a ceremony attended by a group of church members. By the end of June that year the building was completed – an incredible five-month build. The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Perth is an iconic destination for the Open House Perth experience.
