Rowing WA is encouraging the public to visit Elizabeth Quay to watch a great head to head sprint rowing regatta on Saturday, November 12 2016 from 11am to 3pm.
This will be the first ever official rowing regatta to be held in the Elizabeth Quay inlet.
There are three different categories with both female and male crews respectively in contention; Under 19, Open and Masters.
Rowing WA President, David Rose, said that this sprint regatta will be an amazing spectacle and definitely one of the many exciting things to watch out of the new Elizabeth Quay inlet activation program.
“This sprint regatta is part of the one week long ‘Rowing Festival’ here in Perth. With the Rowing Open Day to follow on the Sunday, it sure will help with the hype,” Mr Rose commented.
A couple of Rio Olympians and Paralympians will also be involved in this new regatta format.
Australia’s Olympic Men’s Single Sculler, Rhys Grant said “Rio was a great experience. But there’s nothing like rowing and battling it out with your mates here at home”.
Races will start from the NE corner and finishing at the foot bridge, providing a unique ability to get up close and personal with some great racing.
