The Boulevarde House consists of additions to a corner shop house, transforming an inflexible type into a comfortable family home in a garden setting. Making a direct link from the front door to the rear garden, the addition is a stretched lean-to that closely follows the fall of the site and consolidates the northern garden into one long space. A gap in the addition is a useful covered outdoor area that accommodates the debris of family life. The design retains an important piece of utilitarian heritage, but changes it to become a valuable setting for modern family life. The additions have transformed the way the owners live on the lot, whilst retaining the character that initially attracted them to it.
